Cafeteria Plans
The Section 125 Cafeteria Plan allows employees to use pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible expenses, which allows employees to reduce income taxes and increase take-home pay. The plan includes: health, vision, and dental premium, flexible spending account, and dependent care flexible spending account. Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Employee Benefits Pool administers the City's flexible spending accounts.
Dental
The City provides dental insurance for employees at no cost. Dependents may be covered under the plan at a group rate.
Health
The City provides medical insurance for all permanent full-time at no cost to the employee. Coverage begins on the first of the month following thirty days of employment. The City's health plan year runs January 1st through December 31st. The current provider is the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Employee Benefits Pool. In addition employees may elect dependent coverage at the City’s group rate.
Life & Accidental Death
The City provides Basic Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance at no cost to the employee, which becomes effective on the first of the month following thirty days of employment. An employee is automatically enrolled for an amount equal to one times their base annual earnings to a maximum of $100,000. An employee may purchase supplemental life insurance for themselves and life insurance for their family. Life insurance and accidental death insurance are offered through Standard Life Insurance.
Vision
The City offers a voluntary vision plan through Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Employee Benefits Pool.
